Gran Passione 2012

Gran Passione 2012

Certainly one for the fans of Amarone. This wine is made with mainly Merlot, in the Veneto area of Italy. Further North, close to Lake Garda the real home of Amarone, the principal grape, the Corvo is grown in abundance. The Gran Passione uses 85% Merlot and 15% Corvo. The process is the same as Amarone but because of the use of Merlot, it cannot be called so. However the wine has similar...

La Voleira Aglianico 2013

La Voleira Aglianico 2013

One of four varietals from Giralamo Azienda in Puglia (See LAV 001)this wine is soft and fruit filled with a firm structure encircled with fruit. There are more famous versions from Basilicata and Campania, such as Aglianico del Vulture, but this modestly priced version is in my opinion better value for money. Great with the pasta.

La Voleira Negroamaro 2013

La Voleira Negroamaro 2013

Made from Negroamaro grapes, at the Giralamo winery in Puglia, this wine is superbly made. Hitting around 13% alcohol, it has enough fruit to make this wine taste well balanced and suitable for most food, particularly pasta. La Voleira Negroamaro 2013

La Voleira Negroamaro 2013

One of the four great wines from Giralamo in Puglia. The wine is a blend, although only Negroamaro is mentioned, as there is also a little Ciro and one or two minor grapes, accounting for only 15% of the blend. Great with Pasta and local meats and cheeses, this wine is fruity and well structured, and won't disappoint. Try some, its very versatile.

La Voleira Primitivo 2012

La Voleira Primitivo 2012

One of four varietals from Giralamo in Puglia. Primitivo always needs an extra year to settle in the bottle, and is nearly always strongest. This increasingly popular varietal grows well in the area, and is one of Giralamo's best. Lots of heavy succulent fruit flavour with a slight hint of smokiness, and good with strong cheeses.
